DOUBLE BOUND

Sites of repetitious activity and potential futility, these sculptures are comprised of rope hand-wrapped in thread. By using a material used to bind and restrict—rope—that is itself bound, I create dense microcosms of tension in each sculptural composition. Netted, knotted, and entangled in forms that recall nets, chains, and necklaces, these labor-intensive and obsessive works mine the functions of their materials while recalling objects embedded with tension.
